In my world, people do not typically run toward battling Eikons. I'd no idea people here might be so cavalier with their lives, but as you say, that means that I made an assumption.
I know not whether I could contribute anything meaningful to the endeavor, but it seemed proper to ask.
You must consider every variable. Even if something seems idiotic and unlikely, that does not mean it will not happen. You must always account for fools.
Are you familiar with creation magic? I would be surprised if not, given that you are capable of transforming. I know I spoke with another similar to you, though instead of his entire being wreathed in light, it was fire. He seemed somewhat familiar with the concept of it, though not practiced by any means—are you much the same?
Creation magic is something wielded by my people, it is something innately part of us. Through understanding it, the laws of creation, and with proportionate aether, we are capable of manifesting aught we can imagine. Creating a building and enchanting it to distort the space within it is all rather pedestrian for what we typically achieve otherwise. I could, theoretically, have it done immediately, but I would rather take precaution when utilizing dimensional magic on a star unfamiliar to me.
Dion would much prefer not to be the Bahamut boy, he thinks. ]
I would wait for as long as you deem practical. My people haven't the means to achieve such things at all, nor would I have known that it was an option.
Perhaps the cost would be too great, given the nature of magic in my world.
Perhaps, though the amount of aether you hold is quite sizable. The problem is that your form is ill-suited for the channeling. Better than most I have seen here, I shall give credit where it is due, but it is utterly absurd to me that you would be capable of holding so much potential yet be stifled by your corporeal form.
[Either he doesn't realize or he doesn't care how probably insulting that is to say...]
Pitiful body aside, that you can transform means you do hold some similarity to us. I must wonder if you are simply ill-practiced. Little can you attempt a magic you are otherwise unaware of, after all.
It is a careless design, whether intentional or an accident of nature. You have my sympathies.
I cannot speak with absolute certainty, but mastery over creation magic tends to tie in with our ability to transform. There are some who struggle with creation magic, even with our people's bountiful aether reserves and natural inclination towards it, and as a consequence some of them cannot transform at all. So, it stands to reason that Dominants such as yourself—who both hold such high reserves of aether and can transform—may very well be capable of learning alternative ways to manifest their aether.
[ Sympathy is more than many in his world receive, he knows. ]
I would like to think it possible, if for no other reason than a desire to do something more constructive. It wasn't a luxury I could afford previously.
[Emet-Selch may have his cultural understanding on creations, on what is or isn't a living being, on what might count as his equal in terms of shared existence, experience, and ability. However, that does not mean that he thinks anything should simply suffer because of whatever category they might fall under.
He is not heartless, merely pedantic.]
But it is a luxury you can afford now. I take it that your transformation here was not as strenuous as it was back on your star? I should imagine if it were you might have refrained from that little spar of yours.
I may be more resilient than others, yet in my time here, my condition has been unchanged. By now, I should have been able to observe something, so it is possible that such ill effects do not follow us here. Or perhaps they manifest more gradually.
Regardless, my life is for my people. If I truly am in a position to protect them once more, I would endure whatever was required to do so. There is much I may yet improve upon, especially if we are ever faced with a powerful threat.
I mustn't fail them.
[ Not again. Never again. So he tells himself, in hopes that it can hold true. ]
Well, well, aren't your people fortunate to have you shouldering the burden of saving them? It would seem Echo chose well. Touching as that all is, sentiment alone will not allow you to wield creation magic—one must learn the methods, understand the laws in which creation itself is bound, and practice. Since this is not something that comes naturally to you, practice and study will doubtlessly prove imperative if this is to work at all.
[For how dismissive he might be at Dion's declaration of serving his people, Emet-Selch understands him completely. Taking the seat of Emet-Selch means that he no longer lives for himself, he lives for his people, he lives to serve them and to guide them towards the best possible future.
There is nothing he would not do to protect them.]
Oh? Did you think I was implying myself? I would not so arrogantly claim myself an expert, but I do suppose I am capable enough to teach you—if this is your sorry excuse for a formal request, that is.
[He absolutely is an expert, literally the strongest sorcerer in his world, and he definitely was implying himself. It's just unbecoming for Amaurotines to brag so directly...]
[None, really. He's just being difficult. That Dion took him earnestly is...well, charming.]
Well, I suppose I cannot have you bumbling about making a fool of yourself should you attempt such on your own. It would be more mess for me to clean up, no doubt. If you truly wish to learn, then know I will suffer no fools. I expect commitment, not excuses.
[In truth, part of this is to also...sate his own curiosity about Dion and the Dominants. Though, he would stick to his remote observations to satisfy it if not for the fact he finds Dion rather tolerable.]
It's almost embarrassing, but Emet-Selch just leaves it be at that. No point in farewells when they will see each other soon enough, and he sees no reason to openly accept thanks before his aid has been rightfully given.

Such a thing could be done that swiftly?

I'd imagine the latter is the one you speak of. What I know of such things is only through association with him, so you have the right of it.

Would you be willing to instruct me on this subject, though I may be rather ignorant?
