Emet-Selch's Soul Sight

So Emet-Selch is special in that he can see people's souls! He can view them in such a distinct way that oddities to them, even down to their specific hues, are discernible to him! With that said, I would humbly ask for you to fill out this lil bit of info about your character's soul (or lack thereof) so that I know what he might be seeing when he views them.

In Emet-Selch's canon some of the main characteristics of souls are impacted by how much aether (life energy) they have within them, seemingly immortal beings that are god-like adjacent lifeforms tend to have a "signal flare" like light to their soul. Where as something more mortal and fragile by comparison is described as sickly in its glow, like a guttering candle ready to blow out at any moment. There's evidence to suggest that eye color might be linked to the color of the soul (eyes are windows to the souls etc etc), but nothing is fully confirmed and it's left utterly speculative.

That said, other worlds and realities might follow different rules, so feel free to draw your own conclusions on the colors and whatnot! It will give Emet-Selch something to ponder on all the same!

<b>Color:</b> this could be linked to an element affinity, eye color, vibe, whatever! <b>Glow:</b> typically reflective in terms of natural mortality/magical capability/etc weaker glow is more mortal, stronger glow is more godly/immortal species. For example, while mutants from x-men might get wild and crazy powers, they are still technically mortals/humans in this classification and so their souls would likely be reflective of that (barring any crazy god stuff that happens later in life, looking at YOU Jean Grey), but someone like Thor would likely have a very brilliant soul due to the nature of what he is. <b>Notable characteristic:</b> Some souls are corrupt or damaged or broken or split in half (maybe split into 14), things happen! Anything worth noting that Emet-Selch might see, please mention it here! <b>Physical Characteristics:</b> Emet-Selch is also able to discern things about *people and objects* with his sight, seeing the very basic building blocks of what they are comprised of. So, if there is anything special you would like for him to notice about your character, like if part of them is made of stone, or metal on the inside, then let me know here!

Custodian

Color: Pale blue with a white core, like a white dwarf star.

Glow: it's complicated As a technical immortal, the glow of the Custodian's soul is steady and bright with no flickering, though on the dim side. He was built to last, and that's evident in the makeup of his soul.

Notable characteristic: A sense of diminishing, like his soul could have been brighter and larger once and this relatively small pinprick is what's left after it was drained away somehow. There's a distorted crack in it due to his contact with what's basically an eldritch abomination but like...don't worry about it he's fine.

Physical Characteristics: He's a very complicated robot made of metal and plastics and he's physically built to channel/run on literal star power. I think that's all the relevant information as far as components go.

Color: Invisible and distorting, shifting between colors regularly. Similar to how Chroma manifests visually in the game with as a sort of echo around her - it's all the potential colors at once as she has some control over it and uses it as an art medium, though she doesn't realize it's visible to anyone.
Glow: Fairly weak - about on par with a basic squishy mortal mage.
Notable characteristic: Clea's soul is definitely hole punched to hell and back - their Canvases use part of the artist's soul, and it's strong enough to sustain the Canvas after their death + be used as a tether to the physical world. Very neat and deliberate pieces are missing, and the entire thing knits itself around/routes around the holes.
Physical Characteristics: None. Kind of the opposite given how fucked up and weird her soul is. She's a distressingly ordinary mortal woman.

Shadow (Paramount Films)

Color: Crimson red.
Glow: Being ageless and immortal, it's a steady glow. Even if it dims for a moment, it eventually returns to a brilliant shine that endures.
Notable characteristic: The soul is durable, but there are gaps that haven't been filled. Like scars that never healed. The outer edges of the soul isn't smooth and more prickly/sharp. There's a warmth to it that feels like it's trying to reach out, but it's constantly in conflict with the chaotic energy flowing through him.
Physical Characteristics: There's a dense amount of aether chaotic energy flowing inside him. It noticeably concentrates around his gold rings on his wrist and ankles, like they regulate the flow of that energy. Despite the relatively calm demeanor Shadow gives off, this violent energy underneath feels extremely unweildy, bubbling and boiling. Like this small creature could be a ticking time bomb to disaster.

Just as a note: The Movie has not clarified if Shadow is like his game counterpart where he's a creation or a natural being. So there's a chance this may be adjusted in the future once more information is provided.

Cloud Strife

Color: matches Cloud's eye color - vivid blue marred by veins of intense green.
Glow: Brighter than it should be, judging by the fact that he's just a mortal human...except he does appear to be full of souls, so I'm thinking it's probably something like, Emet can see that his own original soul is dim and mortal, but then it's got the life energy of the Planet itself sort of grafted onto it, and that is crazy bright.
Notable characteristic: See above! Cloud, why do you have the Lifestream stapled onto your soul...
Physical Characteristics: He can see that not only is the Lifestream part of Cloud's soul, it's also running through his veins, metaphorically speaking. He's infused with it down to the cellular level. He can probably also see Jenova in some fashion. Some psychic immortal alien shit in his DNA, for reasons.

Also, I'm guessing that if Emet ever sees Sephiroth, he'll notice that swaths of their DNA and like...psychic identity?? is that a thing?? are eerily identical.

Color: Red red red red reddy red red

Glow: Seems typical to a normal mortal glow, but oddly persistent--as if when viewed from any angle, distance, or obstruction its light would still be seen exactly as brightly.

Notable characteristic: Despite Frisk (and Chara) having no obvious ill effects from bearing it, on close inspection the SOUL is both alien to them and somehow artificial, its construction evoking both computer code and angelic wings. What at first might seem like a hole is more accurately a plug--a point of contact and control, though not one he would be able to manipulate (even if he were so inclined, which I assume he isn't at this point in time).

Physical Characteristics: Chara's presence in Frisk is probably fairly obvious, though to him it would likely read more like two minds than a ghost haunting? Both of them have a direct connection to the SOUL, though, and if they ever fought for control he would be able to watch the baby slapfight. So that's something!

Hawks

Color: Gold like his eyes.
Glow: The ordinary glow of any mortal. He doesn't shine particularly brightly, he's only human after all.
Notable characteristic: As far as souls go, it's pretty ordinary, except there are definitely small cracks here and there, akin to someone who is maybe involved in things that aren't good for the soul.
Physical Characteristics: Is he a bird or a man? Yes. Hawks' physical structure as a person is not entirely human, if the wings didn't give that away. At least, not what would be typical for humans. All the way down to the fact he has bird-like bones that allow him to take flight, there's more traits than he lets on.

Glow: That magenta sure is bright!!!
Notable characteristic:Hmm, strange, what’s this? If you follow the magenta there appears to be gossamer link to that Odin fellow? How strange. The violet portion is small, like a soul still being forged.
Physical Characteristics: Why, this man appears to be made of aether! 🫢
